According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the DEMAND and JOB GROWTH for EKG Technicians is projected to grow 17 % from 2016 to 2026. 

Because of the growing baby-boom population, the demand for this position will be needed in long-term, home health, and hospital care facilities.

EKG Technician Program (EKG) Class.

 

The EKG Technician Program involves classroom instruction that incorporates lectures, live demonstrations, and practical application.

 

Students enrolled in the EKG Program will:

 

  • Learn how to prepare patients for EKG Testing.

  • Implement skills for the operation of of electrocardiograph machine

  • Record the 12 Lead ECG Rhythm strips in a manner that provides reliable tests for the interpretation by a physician.

Healthcare professionals that include doctors, nurses, and providers alike depend on EKG Technicians to help provide crucial and reliable test results for interpretation.  EKG Technicians work in doctor's offices, hospitals, immediate/urgent care centers or diagnostic facilities.

EKG Technician Work Environments

 

ICI's EKG Technician Program will prepare students for a career as an EKG Technician in the following:

  • Hospitals

  • Clinics

  • Emergency & Trauma Centers

  • Private Physician Offices

  • Outpatient Centers

  • Extended Nursing Care Facilities

EKG Technician Program | Total Hours

 

The Chicago EKG Program requires the student to complete 40 Hours of Patient Care Technician education.  These include the following:

How long is the Patient Care Technician Program?

 

ICI's Patient Care Technician program allows students to finish the course within 4 to 6 weeks (Day or Evening Classes/Weekday/Weekend) .

What Happens After Completion of the EKG Technician Classes?

 

After successfully completing the EKG Program at our location near Chicago, Illinois students are eligible to sit for the National Health Career Association Certification Exam.

What Do EKG Technicians Do in the Field?

 

EKG Technicians analyze and monitor electrocardiograms (EKGs) and stress tests.  EKG rhythms provide the data needed for specialists in the diagnosis of heart conditions.  The tests are usually conducted during physical examinations, when cardiovascular problems may be an issue, or in the preparation of a surgical procedure.
