PHLEBOTOMY TECHNICIAN

 

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the DEMAND and JOB GROWTH for this career is project to grow 25 % from 2016 to 2026.  

 

Because of the growing demand for home health care, this position will be needed in long-term, home health, and hospital care facilities.

CPT certification Chicago Illinois 2019

International Career Institute offers the

Phlebotomy Technician Program (CPT) Class.

 

The PCT Program involves classroom instruction that incorporates lectures, live demonstrations, and practical application.

 

Students enrolled in the CPT Program will:

 

  • Learn how to draw blood from patients and blood donors.

  • Evaluate a patient's ability to withstand the procedure

  • Explain and give information on blood-drawing procedures to patients, and answer their questions.

  • Perform basic point of care testing, such as a blood glucose level check.

  • Prepare patients blood, urine, and other specimens for testing

  • Verification of patient | donor identity.

  • Maintenance of medical equipment such as needles, test tubes, and blood vials.

Healthcare professionals that include doctors, nurses, and providers alike depend on Certified Phlebotomy Technicians (CPT's) to help draw and collect bodily specimens from patients.

Phlebotomy Program Length

 

ICI's Phlebotomy CPT Classes at our campus located near Chicago, Illinois involves a 100-clock hour course in theory, laboratory, and 90 hours of Phlebotomy Externship.

Program Length ranges from 6 weeks (Day and Evening Class) to 12 Weeks (Weekend Class).

Phlebotomy Requirements

 

The Phlebotomy Program requires the following for admission:

  • Complete CPT Admission Forms

  • Photo Identification

  • Social Security Card

  • Birth Certificate/US Passport/Green Card/

  • High School Diploma | GED

  • Assessment Test

  • Criminal History Records Check

  • Basic Life Support CPR Certification

  • Physical Exam | Immunization Records | TB Results

Phlebotomist Program | Total Hours

 

The Chicago Phlebotomist Program requires the student to complete 190 Total Hours of Phlebotomy education.  These include the following:

100 Hours | Theory/Laboratory

90 Hours | Externship
