The CNA program involves classroom instruction that incorporates lectures, live demonstrations, and application.

 

Students enrolled in the CNA Program will:

 

  • Be instructed on how to perform safe basic Nursing Assistant procedures in a Health/Home Care setting.

  • Be prepared for employment in the health/home care setting.

  • Become eligible to take the Illinois State written competency examination for Nursing Assistants (to be a CNA).

A Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), under supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), helps those who are in need of healthcare.  Also known as a Basic Nursing Assistant (BNA) CNA's have been referred to as the backbone of healthcare. 

 

The demand for CNA's have gone up tremendously, and are in demand in today's workforce.  There are many employers in Chicago, Illinois and surrounding suburbs that look to ICI to fill CNA job positions at their facility.

 

ICI offers the CNA training and Certification course here at our location close to Chicago, Illinois.  Our CNA courses start every quarter, and we provide the academic attention you need here as a student at ICI.

 

ICI's CNA training school certification course is offered at our campus in Lincolnwood, Illinois, which is a suburb not to far from the city of Chicago.  Our CNA training course incorporates in-class lectures led by expert instructors.  Our CNA instructors bring you premier education with years of experience in the field.

General Requirements for CNA Course

  • CNA Applicant must have a Valid Social Security Card SSC

  • CNA Applicant must undergo a Criminal Background Check

  • CNA Applicant must submit a Drug Test

  • CNA Applicant must show Proof of Immuniztions and Negative TB Test

  • High School Diploma | GED | or Equivalent

  • Admission Assesment | Examination

  • Physical Exam

The CNA Course now offers in-class and online CNA classes that are flexible for your schedule.  The CNA in-class schedule takes place on Weekend Mornings (Saturday & Sunday).  The CNA in-class schedule takes place on Weekdays and run throughout the week.

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Training Program is a 4 to 10 Week Program that prepares students into their roles and responsibilities as Certified Nursing Assistants in long term care facilities and other health care settings. Through lecture/discussion, supervised laboratory and actual clinical experience, students are provided with the knowledge and skills needed to provide basic nursing care for patients in various health care facilities.

 

Students are eligible to take the Illinois Nurse Aide Written Competency Exam after successful completion of the program. The BNATP is approved by the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH).

 

This course follows the BNATP Model Program of IDPH. The curriculum is designed to provide the students with knowledge and skills necessary to perform entry-level tasks of an Illinois Certified Nursing Assistant in the following clusters: communicating information, performing basic nursing skills, performing personal care skills, providing basic restorative skills, mental health, social services, and residents’ rights.

Students who complete and satisy all CNA Class Requirements, will be eligble to take the written competency test for CNA Certification.  Southern Illinois University at Carbondale (SIU-C) administers the written portion of the competency exam at various sites throughout the state of Illinois.

CNA's can work in many different health care settings.  Many of our current clinical partners have hired our CNA students after completing the course.  Here are a few examples of where you can find work as a Certified Nursing Assistant CNA in Chicago and accross the US:

 

 

 

What does a Certified Nursing Assistant do?

 

  • Bathe and dress patients

  • Serve meals and help patients eat

  • Take vital signs

  • Turn or reposition patients who are bedridden

  • Collect information about conditions and treatment plans from caregivers, nurses and doctors

  • Provide and empty bedpans

  • Lift patients into beds, wheelchairs, exam tables, etc.

  • Answer patient calls

  • Examine patients for bruises, blood in urine or other injuries/wounds

  • Clean and sanitize patient areas

  • Change bed sheets and restock rooms with necessary supplies
